The project ‘Promoting Community Policing in Lebanon’ aims at reinforcing communication and partnership between security actors and civil society and at supporting the oversight role of CSOs in promoting a rights-based approach in police action. The project is inclusive of four components: strengthening the capacity of local organizations to better monitor and promote Human Rights at the local level; organizing awareness-raising and visibility actions between security actors and the population (civil society);

reporting on the status of Human Rights with particular focus on real cases in which Human Rights need to be better protected by the police (ISF and MP) and by the population; and participating on the designing and the establishment of a CSO-ISF Institutional framework of cooperation to ensure regular partnership and communication.

Impact: By providing training and capacity building initiatives, working with selected grassroots NGOs, Adyan will strengthen the Internal Security Forces’ (ISF) internal processes and will on the other hand strengthen the ability of community/religious leaders and organizations in having a positive mutually beneficial communication with ISF.
Outcome 1: Improve ISF’s capacity to implement community policing
