This training is for educators of religion, Christian and Muslim, empowering them in integrating the values of Citizenship and Living together from the point of view of religion in their religious education classes.

This training is actually linked to an ongoing program entitled Interreligious Education on Intercultural Citizenship. T Institute of Citizenship and Diversity Management is also ready to implement similar trainings on demand by schools or religious institutions

Academic background:

BA in Religious Studies, Religious Education or equivalent.


Training Outcomes
Objective of the Training:

At the end of the e-course and the seminar participants are able to:

  • Capacity building of educators and workers in the religious education fields about citizenship values from the point of view of religions and how to educate youth on them.
  • Propagation of a pro-citizenship faith-based discourse in Christian and Muslim communities.
  • Increase in positive perception and mutual trust between citizens from different communities, fostering social cohesion

Outcomes of the training:

  • Educators of religion have a clear understanding of the fundamental values of Citizenship and Living together: Human Dignity, Accepting the other, Common Good, Respect of the Law, Justice, Trustworthiness.
  • Educators of religion link between values, faith and citizenship.
  • Educators of religion have the skills to convey these values and concepts to the students in an interactive collaborative approach.
  • Educators receive a handbook on the role of Christianity and Islam in Citizenship and Living Together and know how to use it in both formal and non- formal contexts.
  • Educators receive a certificate from the Institute of Citizenship and Diversity Management

The Prophet says: “Muslims are for one another like a solid structure, they strengthen each other”; I felt that through our humanity and despite the different faiths, we are a solid building that cannot be destroyed.

Training Outline


Course Description

Axis 1: Religions and citizenship

This axis focuses on the role of religions and of religious education in fostering social cohesion and citizenship.

Axis 2: Shared public values in Christianity and Islam

This axis focuses on the values from Christian and Muslim points of view. The values the training tackles are Diversity/ Acceptance of the other – Justice – Respect of the laws and covenants – Human Dignity – Trustworthiness – Common Good.

Axis 3 : Methodology of the approach

This axis focuses on how to use the handbook in religious education, and on how it can be adapted to the religious discourse in churches and mosques.
