“Renewal of Islamic Thought”, a seminar in partnership with the Issam Fares Institute
In collaboration with the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs, the Institute of Citizenship and Diversity Management at Adyan Foundation organized a seminar entitled “Renewing Islamic Thought Between the Different Challenges of the Twentieth Century and the Twenty-First Century”, which took place on Friday March 15th, 2019 in the Issam Fares Institute’s conference hall in the American University of Beirut (AUB) in Beirut. Present were a wide range of experts, interested parties and students. The event was implemented with support from Danmission, in the context of the Danish-Arab Partnership Program.
The seminar hosted Tunisian author and thinker Abdelmajid Charfi who specializes in Islamic Thought and Civilization and Iraqi author and thinker Dr. Abdul Jabbar Al Rifai who specializes in Islamic Philosophy. The director of the Institute of Citizenship and Diversity Management, Dr Nayla Tabbara, moderated the seminar.
This seminar was among the activities that were held on the side of the discussion sessions that involved two groups of experts and peers in the project entitled “Religious Social Responsibility for Citizenship and Coexistence”, implemented by the Institute of Citizenship and Diversity Management between the 14th and the 17th of March 2019, and which took place in the Gefinor-Rotana Hotel in Beirut, with the presence and participation of 18 experts from Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, Oman, Jordan, Iraq, Yemen, Italy, Germany and Lebanon.
